I would definately advise it. If only for the fact that, the more you know the more you’ll be able to do and the more fun you’ll have.
Remember even the most well trained horse needs some guidance on occassion and it does help if the rider knows at least the basics.
Happy Riding!!!:)

Yes! how will the rider know how to ride a trained horse if she isnt trained? look for trainers in your area or for a riding center/boarding place for horses. These places usually have a trainer on site, so try calling them to see if the trainer will give you a lesson.

Yes because when out on a trail even the most broke of horses can run into obstacles that scare them. I had a broke mare that never spooked at anything and I had an inexperienced rider on her and a few ducks flew up from behind some bushes and scared her and the rider didnt know how to stop the horse. You cannot create a controlled environment especially on a trail guaranteeing that nothing will spook or bother your horse. She will learn her seat and how to controll the horse using hands, feet ,and legs which will do no more than make a better rider.

not only should you take a couple of lessons (the average 1 hour lesson is $20-$40), you should not ride down the trail alone- go with a more experienced rider.

tips: double check to make sure the saddle and bit are on snugly, always keep your legs pressed firmly into the sides of the horse, and never ever let go of the reins. all this sounds really simple, but you’d be surprised how many people get hurt b/c they don’t do these things.

Yes. At least once or twice so the rider can get the feel of the horse’s balance and of course know the basics of riding!

Yes, you need to take lessons if your a beginner. Also always have someone go with you on the trail. And yes, you need to ride a trained horse.

Of course a beginner trail rider should start taking lessons!!! It’s never too early to start riding, and what better time to start than if you’ve already had experience with horses, even if it’s only on a trail ride? I say, go for it! I, myself take lessons, and of course what I started with was a trail ride, but you gotta start somewhere!

Yes! Even the most bomb proof horse sometimes has problems, and trained doesn’t neccessarily even mean beginner safe. Plus, riding lessons are fun – and you’ll get so much more out of riding! Definetly get some riding lessons – I recommend taking them for at least two years, even though the horse (? yours?) is "trained". Have fun!

Yes because if the horse is trained and you arent then you could really mess the horse up with the wrong cues and things like that.

yes. its very improtant to know how to ride well even if its only a trail ride. lessons teach u how to handle everything the right way. all horses no matter how well broke will get scared of something and thats why u take lessons. to know how to stay on ur horse if he spazzes on a trail. lessons r very important for any level of rider.

Most definitely because the horse is trained to ride a certain why. Like if it plow reins or neck reins. If you don’t know how the horse is trained and what it knows then how can you ride it? My horse is getting trained in English and I don’t know a thing about it!
So I’d recommend taking lessons, it will be a lot easier on you and the horse.
