Heya i havent riden that long but i hope this comes as help! ;) Always Get on your horse ( mount ) from the left side :D

Dont kick your horse / Pony too hard! Dont pull on the reigns to hard to slow down, sit heavy in the saddle and lean back slightly.

Riding is fun, just becareful , trust your horse, just relax, let your horse know your the boss! and you'll be fine :D

When i first started riding, i never kicked the horse or was in control because i was afraid i would hurt it. But seriously, horses are brought up mountains with heavy loads and raced! They can only just feel you really lol :D

Most importantly, Dont worry! Just have fun, relax and try your best! ;)
References :
never be nervous if the horse moves!make sure the shoulders, back, hips, and head are all straight with each other, don't lean back, keep your ankles down and stirrups on the balls of your feet, bend your elbows slightly, in posting trot look at their inside wither [shoulder] the one closest to the fence/wall and make sure your off the horses back when that leg moves forward. [it's called posting diagonal] by this you'll impress your instructor, and your horse!
References :
from an experienced rider and barn worker. i've been with horses for almost my whole life! it's awesome!

I have been riding for 4 years and it takes a long while for your horse o completely trust you. On your first lesson you will be taught the basics and get to know your horse. Try not to be nervous around your horse, have faith in your instructor, she/he knows what their doing. Don't worry its a really great sport.
Hope this helps
References :
relax, if your tense then the horse may play up, but they will put you on a calm horse to start with so you have nothing to worry about. when you meet your horse, go up to him from the side/front (just not the back!!!) and slowly hold out your hand so he can sniff you and stroke his neck and face, whilst gently talking calmly. they love that! urm, sit up straight without arching your back, and keep your heels down. look up and between your horses ears. hold the reins just tight enough so you can connect with his mouth, and hold then like they tell you (with your thumbs on top) but don't pull them very tight or loose enough so they are like washing rope. they will tell you the rest, as long as you are calm and relaxed then don't worry. anyway, i have only fallen off once and i have been riding for 4 years, so i don't think you will fall off for a while. good luck, and i hope you have fun!
Don't get the horse mad. Stay calm and don't sneak up to him. Look friendly and try not to fall off the horse.
References :
Hold on tight! :)
NEVER go around a horse from the back, it makes it scared, try to relax and become friends. get familiar with your horse, feed her, pet her before you start training, so she/he is used to you.
Good luck. It's really fun once you get into it! :)
