Is an aribian a good riding horse for a beginner rider? Pros and Cons of Aribians?

I’ve seen Arabians that were the best beginner horses and Arabians that I would never come close to, they were so neurotic. Please don’t look at the breed or color when buying a horse! Look at the indivdual horse – if it fits what you need, than that’s your horse!

Is a free 29 year old horse that is going blind a good match for a beginner rider?

My lesson instructor has offered me her 29 year old horse for free. He is going blind and is a little skinny because he is sharing pasture with a ton of other horses. She feels he would be a good match since I have the pasture which he needs and no other horses. Should I be concerned about taking him? She will take care of him when he passes away. Basically I am leasing him for free.
He is a horse that has been there done that. However, he has not been ridden for awhile. She says he does good on trail rides even though he is almost blind.

He may be a good starter horse for a person who has never owned one before, but you should realise that he will need to be retired from riding soon because of his advanced age.

Get a vet’s opinion on his ability to be ridden before you decide for yourself, of course. Otherwise, its just up to you. Feel free to accept him if you like his personality, and wouldn’t mind if he became a "lawn ornament" in a few months.
He could be a great pet and companion horse, either way.

Please help me pick which horse breed is right for me!?

I need the right breed for a beginner horse rider. I ride Western and the horse would be for a mature child. I would like a nice friendly breed, that is also fun, and beautiful. I know all the horses are different. But I just want a breed that is mostly that way. Thank You!

(P.S. I would REALLY appreciate it if you would also give me some ideas on how to save a LOT of money! It would help a lot.)

quarter horses are my favorite. I have been riding them since I was 4 and I am 28. I have owned different breeds but adore my qh! a seasoned qh can be affordable my favorite qh mare I got from a rescue she was perfectly healthy and very well trained in reining and cows. qh are great they dont spook easily have a very calm even loving temperament. oh money saving tips? use straw or wood pellets under your bedding not just bedding. it makes it last a lot longer. happy horse hunting

Beginner VS not so beginner horse camp? Please help!?

Ok, so in about 1 month, there is this horse camp. You go there for 5 hours a day and get a lesson daily plus trail rides and stuff. I am a very beginner rider that knows a little english and western. The only time I have trotted while riding was doing western, but on english I almost seem to bounce out of the saddle. I have never cantered or anything. So this camp person said that it was for beginners, but some of the girls that are going I have seen walking, trotting, cantering, and doing small jumps. Im just not sure if I should go, because Im not sure if everyone going is as experienced as that and i wouldnt know anyone. Im just not sure if I would feel welcome with them cantering and jumping circles around my walk. Do you think this place would help me learn more, or are they to advanced for me to be with? Would I enjoy this place or do you think It would make me feel bad about my (not experienced) ability? Please no rude comments, I just recently started.

Don’t feel bad, chances are you’ll meet nice people who are willing to help you out with problems.

I used to go to riding camp every summer, I had been riding for YEARS by the time I went. Lessons were geared so that beginners had easier things to do, intermediate riders had other things to do. I helped other girls that need it, and even taught some of the beginner lessons. You might not know anyone when you arrive, but by the end of the camp you should have some great friends.

We walked and trotted on trail rides, but never cantered unless it was a large field where people who didn’t want to canter could wait on one side. Ask about getting a western saddle for trail rides so you feel more secure.

Don’t pretend to know more than you do, ask for help if you need it, and HAVE FUN!

Best horse for beginner riders?

Just curious. My father has 4 horses. 3 Quarterhorses and a Throughbred. (sorry about spelling)

My question is what do you think is the best horse for beginner riders. (I learned on a quarter horse , actually she is a 3 time world champion barrell racer) but I’m not so sure that is the best horse to start out on.

Anyways what do you think? (I’d like to have a horse of my own one day but I was told not to get the one I want The Arabian though I love those)

Breed doesn’t matter in a beginner horse, its all about disposition, you want a gentle well trained horse that you are sure is safe for the rider. Maybe stay in the riding style you plan to participate in , but my fist horse was a mutt that im pretty sure is part draft but he was the best i have ever owned.also, make sure the horse is smart, a dumb horse will hurt you faster than you can think to do anything about it.

Hi! I am a begginer rider and I am looking for my first horse. Any suggestions? I want it to be a kind, good natured, easy to handle, and loving horse. Please help! I am in huge trouble! I have posted a message like this before but I messed up on some of the typing and I kno if I put it up there I got all of the answers I could but I did not find the answers I was looking for.

with a beinner rider, its better to start with an older horse. they are less tempermental. if you are just starting to ride, then take lessons for a couple monthes- like 6-8 monthes. I’m still in training, but my trainer says im a VERY fast learner. You also want to think about what you are going to want to do. First, do you want to ride english or western, and if you want to jump, do dressage, or just trail ride. they need ALOT of attention, so be prepared. so, yeah. just email me back if you have anymore questions!
