Does have any details about horse riding lessons in the Forest of Dean area, where, when and price?

- The lesson’s don’t have to be in the Forest of Dean but within a reasonable driving distance.
- I need to know the contact details of the place the lesson are held, the price of beginner lessons, how long each lesson lasts and the days/times the lesson is held.
- All details need to be about lessons for an ADULT beginner and either group or individual lessons are welcomed.

What’s better: private or group horse riding lessons?

I’d really like to start horse riding for complete beginners but I don’t know whether to do private or group lessons!

The price difference isn’t that much at the riding school I’m looking at, so I don’t really know what one to do.

For the private lessons I could be taught by a Trainee, a Junior instructor or a Senior instructor… It’s cheaper to be taught by a Trainee but it just depends which is best! The group lesson is 1hr long and the private lessons are either 30 or 45 minutes or 1hr long.

Please help I don’t know which one to pick! Bare in mind I don’t know anyone at the horse riding school :S

Group lessons are good because they’re usually cheaper, and it’s fun to have a lesson with some friends.
Private lessons are usually a better learning experience because it’s just you and the trainer, one-on-one. As for who you want to be taught by, although the trainee is cheaper, it’s always better to get someone with instructing experience who knows what they’re doing so you can get the best out of your lessons. If you were wondering about what length of lesson, if this is your first time riding, you should probably start out with the 30 minute lessons and increase the length as you get more advanced; as a beginner doing walk/trot, you won’t get much out of an hour long lesson.
Since you don’t really know anyone at the stable and the prices are about the same, I’d recommend you get private lessons.

Hi, I have a gf who rides horses alot. I have never been around a horse before meeting her, unless you count a pony ride when I was 5. They are a big part of her life so I have been trying to adjust to them, but they seem a little intimidating although I try not to show it. She has taken me to her barn and I met her horse and her friends. I have helped her with cleaning the stall, or mucking whatever its called. She has shown me how she saddles up the horse and all (still looks complicated to me lol). I watch her practice, but she wants me to learn how to ride. I am thinking of taking a few lessons just to learn how to get on a horse before she actually teaches me and I’ll just act like its the first time. I fear that I will embarass myself in front of her if I fall or panic. So what would other places charge for a basic riding lesson, nothing fancy? I just want to make sure I can be calm when she actually teaches me. Thanks!

If your girlfriend is not an instructor, I would tell her that you’d like to learn the basics from a professional so that you have a good solid foundation. Not everyone is an excellent teacher, and sometimes having a bit of a "wall" emotionally helps you listen better to the teacher than you would a friend or a family member.

A lot of pro riding instructors send their children and significant others to different instructors simply because they don’t have the problem of "familiarity breeds contempt". Also, a professional is trained to know what to look for and how to help you solve problems so you become a better rider.

It’s a really great thing that you’re taking an interest in your girlfriend’s hobby! Once you get out of raw-beginner stage and feel more comfortable around horses and tack, it will all seem like second nature. It looks terribly complicated, but it’s really not

Horrible girls at my horse riding lesson?

I go horseback riding every Saturday and I love it, I’m only beginner (so I can walk, trot, canter) and I have only been a few lessons but Im startin to really hate the girls there! There is this one group of girls, there’s about 7 of them, 13-14 years old. Those girls basically run the class. The teachers barely ever teach us! And the girls are horrible, like if you miss a jump, they all sniffer together in a corner and once this girl fell off and they shouted at get blaming her saying she was stupid. They don’t realise that I’m only a beginner and I will find some jumps hard. Right now I’m learning how to do rising trot and how to rise up and down, and I’m trying my best but I don’t get it right according to them, they just tut and shake their head and don’t encourage you or anything. Then we have lunch time for 2 hours and in that time I’m practically by myself, maybe one week I will tag along with someone but mostly I just wander round the stables for two whole hours on my own while other girls laugh. I have tried to talk to people, most a young girls but the people my age I try and talk to but they always seem to ‘accidentally run off’ Im really starting to love horse riding and nut mum said if I get good she might get me a horse! But I don’t know what to do about these girls? It’s getting me down and this is the only riding school for ages, I love horse riding, it’s jut them ruining it…

Try to brush it off. Also encourage the others that they put down – you might just make some friends!

Above all, enjoy yourself. Learn as much as you can and never stoop to their level. You are above that.

If it really begins to bother you, look hard at some other schools. If the teachers aren’t teaching, you may not be getting the education you deserve.

What shoes to wear horse back riding and working around a barn?

Ok, so this summer i’m going to be working at a barn, in exchange for horse back riding lessons. And im a beginner. I have no clue what shoes or just what to wear in general. I can’t by anything to expensive. Like nothing past 50 dollars right now. But I think the most important thing I need right now are shoes. So can anyone give me some suggestions on what type of shoes are best for horse back riding and working around the stables. Im going to be riding english.

That’s a good place to search for stables. I don’t know what you’re asking about how many lessons, when you find an instructor they should be able to answer your questions.

Best place to take horse riding lessons?

I am a 13 year old girl and have never rode a horse in my life. It has always been something I have wanted to try, but my parents don’t know It yet. I am looking for an inexpensive but nice place where I could take beginner lessons. I want the stable to include a horse and the tack. The Stable also has to be located in Edmonton or close to Sherwood park, alberta. Thanks

I’m not exactly sure what you would call cheap but I did some searches on the goggle and I found a couple of places that you should go and check out.
This place looks pretty swell and I would definitely make a trip out! Not sure on their prices but it would still be worth a shot.

Also looks like a great place. You have to buy a package but if you could some how save up money that would be great. It says its 315.00 for a 10 lesson package so thats about 31.50 for each hour lesson which isn’t bad.

it all depends if your ready or not. some people are naturally good at keeping their balance and staying on the horse but others my not be. If the riding instructor thinks your ready, they’ll ask you if you want to be taken off the lead rein but if you don’t feel ready tell them. they won’t do anything if your not ready. also, if you really feel ready ask them, they will probably take you off. it all depends on the horse your riding as well. you might be put on a naughty horse that mucks about all the time, then i would have a few more lessons to get to know the horse first. always ask hope this helped :L

They’re located in San Antonio, TX. I checked their website but it does not have prices of any kind and does not have an email contact form. Does anyone know how much they charge for beginner (never ridden a horse before) lessons?

I would contact them directly and ask them. That is more likely to get you an accurate answer than is an open question to an open audience on the internet.
