I have a mountain and mooreland. His mane looks better long and wavy, do I have to plait it? Also do I have to wear white gloves?

In the US, you do not have to braid for schooling shows, but you do have to braid for recognized shows. However, you might be able to diamond braid or French braid a long mane. You do not have to wear white gloves. Black gloves are usually worn at lower levels.

Check the rule book of your governing body to be sure.

Normally I would say yes, you do need to plait your horse for dressage every time. However, as your horse is a mountain and moorland, you might want to look this up. I think that breeds like that, and haflingers etc don’t need to be plaited. But I would look it up just in case!

As to wearing white gloves, no you don’t need to! it really depends on your level, but if you’re just starting out, I would go for darker coloured gloves, preferably ones that match your jacket, as white ones will highlight any wobbles or exaggerated movement in your hands, which may cause you to be marked down.

I wouldn’t take my word for it (showjumper! lol) but that’s some of the information that i have gathered through the years!

    Good luck!!! =D
