Most ranches are located out West, and the style of riding is Western ( also called Stock seat) which means that they use saddles which are designed for working with cattle and have horns in the front. If you want to learn more about the sport of dressage, my suggestion would be for you to go to the USDF's website (their address is usdf.org) and click the different links they have on education. I am glad you are looking into Dressage! I am 16 and board my horse at a stables, but i pretty much live there!!!LOL I love dressage! My trainer is an excellent teacher and she has alot of experiance showing dressage up through 4th level. if you are getting into dressage, just remember to follow the basics. There are ALOT of people who do dressage that try to bypass the basics and end up ruining thier shot at becoming a great rider. You see it all the time at shows.
