my horse tivio is pure qh and he is in 3rd level dressage so it really depends on your horse.

I dont do dressage, …
I dont do dressage, I do barrel racing and pole bending, but i have a big 16.3HH OTTB that i do it with and he does great.. but i’ve always had problems with flying lead changes were he only changes the front and not the rear.. so this was very informative!! I think i will try it this week!!

thats really good advice… so many people do it over poles etc…and that encourages horses to change late behind.

I compete at upper …
I compete at upper levels of dressage with my quarter horses and win. i just ride them on the outside rein and from behind of the front end wor just working on piaffe / passage.

Is she pure QH? It sort of depends how she moves. QH’s tend to have long necks, therefore it’s tough to get them into a collect frame of a dressage horse. But if you think she has potentional give it a shot!

ok, I’m trying to get my Quarter horse, Jesse, into Dressage. She’s amazing, but she hasn’t been ridden in a while, and she’s never learned dressage. So, how do you do extentions on their trot and canters and walks? I know, she’s a quarter horse, but I think she has potential. Do quarter horses make good dressage horses?????
