I’m trying to figure out how to explain dressage scores to a non-horse person. I’m looking if any of you out there have a credible source (book, website, etc as long as its credible) that will basically prove that a dressage score of 6 or 7 is pretty good. Or if you’ve had success explaining it in some other way. I just keep getting blank looks and "So…. 6 out of 10 is GOOD? Yeah, suuure."

This is a start from the USEF website, "A Spectator’s Guide to dressage" http://www.usef.org/_IFrames/breedsDisciplines/discipline/alldressage/about.aspx

From the USDF website, this is the explanation of the tests. http://www.usdf.org/about/about-dressage/competition/tests.asp this has an explanation of what the different scores mean. When gymnastic and ice skating judges started giving at least one "10" to every performance, they really devalued the "10" in dressage. A good example of economics to the world….=)
