am i a novice rider ! please help, its important !!!?
i was wanting my own horse and sometimes it says ‘not a novice ride’ would i be a novice? i can…
walk/trot/canter
ride bareback
ride without stirrups in all gaits
jump verticals about 3 foot
jump consecutive jumps
do some dressage (eg. leg yeilding)
and i can ride horses that bolt/buck etc (however, i prefer not to lol)
am i a novice rider?
When it says that it is not a novice ride, it means that they may have some behavioural problems which needs a strong, quick thinking, problem solving rider. It may have a problem with its brakes.
If it is your first horse, I would say that you need to go for a horse with better training, probably over seven with a snaffle mouth who has done a bit of everything.
Though you can ride, you will not have had enough experience of riding many different horses of all temperaments and you could, if you bought one like this, end up biting off more than you can chew.
So many horses and riders are not suited. A horse will quickly suss out your weaknesses and play them for all they are worth!

A Novice rider is a beginner, looking at what you have achieved already, means you have a good deal of experience, so dont worry,, RIDE ON GIRL.

sometimes- not novice ride can have hidden meanings! it can mean the horse is an absolute idiot and thats why they are selling it, and covering their butts, or simply that the horse is spooky and prone to nap, or just that the owners dont want a novice buying their horse. be care ful with this x p.s it depends how long you are riding also, in my opinion you dont SEEM a novice however if you have only been riding a year, then yes I would consider you a novice rider, just purely through lack of experiance, sooooo much to learn x

No you are not a novice rider. As long as you are confident with what you do, you would be able to ride a horse that is "not for a novice rider". I would probably say that you are a strong intermediate rider right now. However, if you keep on challenging yourself, it won’t be long before you are an advanced rider.
Good luck on your horse hunt and keep on learning more!

no i wouldn’t class you as a novice.
any horse classed as not a novice ride needs to be ridden by you, when you go to view it.
some people underestimate how bad they can be.

Depends, lol! Compared to someone like Beezie Madden, yes, you are a "novice rider." If your description of your abilities is accurate, you sound like a competent, experienced intermediate-level rider — e.g., like MOST of us amateur owner/riders — and you probably feel quite comfortable handling a variety of horses. The only way to know whether a particular horse is suitable for YOU, however, is to try him out: not once, but several times, in as many situations as you can. Take your trainer with you if you can.
Hope this helps!

It can also depend on the context it is being used. For showing in many breed classes, Novices is someone who has only begun to show and has not yet reached a certain level of points, like 25.
Saying a horse is not for a novice or beginner would refer to someone who has little horse experience.
From the experience you have listed, I would say you are an intermediate rider.

it all depends on the horse. if you can do all the things you say, you are not really considered a novice rider. you are more of an advanced rider. not experienced, but still pretty good. when you are looking at horses, sometimes not for a novice rider means that that could be a good horse for you, but he might also be difficult. But, you don’t want to end up with a horse that can only walk and trot. you’re best bet is to get a horse around 15-18. you don’t want to get a horse to elderly, but you don’t want a horse that is green. Don’t get a novice Horse! that is a huge mistake! trust me i know. my horses weren’t easy to handle when i got them. i got a 2 for 1 deal. i thought that it was a great deal until i learned that one horse was good, but the other one was pretty much completley green. Hope this help! good luck!

Whilst I would not say you were a novice probably more itermediate, most horses advertised as not a novice ride need advanced riders. In all the time ive owned horses and bought and sold them, not a novice rider normaly has meant either 1) hot blooded competition horse who is extremely highly schooled and extremely sensitive or 2) has a problem that needs extensive schooling and alot of courage to overcome.

Well to me you sound like you are still a novice rider. A begginer is someone who hasnt ever been on a horse before and just knows the basics of how to make the horse walk or trot on how to turn left or right and how to stop but also is just started to establish trot.
A novice rider is someone who can walk, trot, canter with or without stirrups who can jump and who understand the basic school movements such as leg yeilding etc and who instead of only using your rein uses there legs to.
I think when people say not a novice ride they mean its more for inttermidate to advanced level of riidng which you should be able to do all the above but also being able to get a good feel to a horse , get the horse to work correctly in an outline knowing how to get a horse into an outline and what it means 2bh theres loads of things.

Okay well you really have to ask the seller what they mean by "not a novice ride" it could be a number of things and you may or may not want to deal with it. They may say not a novice ride because the horse is highly trained and sensitive to queues so that would be a plus if you want to compete. Over all I automatically am suspicious of shady descriptions like that. I have not seen the ad but sometimes they use shady words to hide a vice. If you are really interested contact the seller if they are still not giving clear description of what they mean then move on. Just be sure "not a novice ride" does not mean bucks the hell out of you if you do not have an iron grip.
