Novice horse Questions? First to answer correctly gets best answer!?
I ride a Quarter Horse Gelding named Skipo and I used to ride him in only english classes. Neither me nor Skipo are novice ENGLISH riders anymore but we have only won 3 first places in Western Pleasure. Can I still enter a Novice Western horse or rider class even though I am no longer novice in English?
Also, how many first places do you have to get in order to no longer be novice?
***THE FIRST TO ANSWER CORRECTLY GETS BEST ANSWER! REGARDLESS OF LENGTH OF ANSWER OR EXPLANATION! I JUST WANT A STRAIGHT UP ANSWER!***
the places i show at usually say "if you havent won a blue ribbon before jan. 1, you can show novice" or something along those lines. I think thats a pretty common rule, but it may vary. Some barns have a rule where if you won a number of blue ribbons, you cant qualify. Just give the place a call or email the director and ask them about it. c:

I dont’ know how you are going to choose a "correct" answer. You need to check with the association that you ride with. Some open associtions state on the show bill something like "novice = horse and rider team have not won more than X blue ribbons." Some may say "X ribbons in this event." AQHA and APHA (I think) point people out of novice in classes or divisions, such as english or western, you will need to check with AQHA for that. It wouldn’t matter how many blues you have, but how many points you were awarded for the placing. You will need to check the rules for your particular association.
