I am a novice rider looking for first horse. I am 5′ 4" and 11stone, the horse would also be ridden by my husband who has previously had his own horse, he is 6′ and 13 stone. We would want to hack out only and as I have just reached 50, want one that is kind, trustworthy and affectionate. Any suggestions on size and type please? Would welcome all advice from experienced riders.
dont really know where your from somewhere where you go by stones instead of pounds a good rule of thumb would be a horse can carry 1/4 of its body safely, a thousand pound horse can carry a 250lb person, dont ask me how many stones that would be? maybe its close as apples to oranges.
